1. What do you believe is the purpose of education?
I believe the purpose of education is to teach students to be well rounded citizens in society. 2. What is the role of the teacher? The role of a teacher is to show students where to look, but not what to see. When I make this statement I am proposing that it is the job of the teacher to expose our students to topics and subjects that are pivotal to their educational survival, however it is not our job to tell them how to feel about them. 3. What is the role of the student? The role of the student is to be open to learn the concepts and subjects that this world has been built upon. It is also their role to develop their own opinions on these concepts and subjects, then to apply their opinions to their personal and professional lives. 4. Why do you teach? I teach because I have the gift of relating to students in a way to help them see and understand important information. I also teach because I want enjoy mentoring the students that feel they have no where left to turn, no one to talk too, and no motivation to learn. The best of my professional career thus far has been the experience I have had with the young, black men in my class who declared to never go to college, yet to be drug dealers, basketball players and second line musicians, who all now want to attend college and become the best versions of themselves. Due to the exposure of successful professionals and the love and care I give to each of my students. 5.What do good teachers do? Good teachers do their job by teaching discipline, self control and the ability to express yourself educationally. We teach students to have a voice and to use that voice, while being functional citizens of society? 6.What do good students do? Good students are receptive to the information that is being taught. Whereas, they form their own opinions and develop their own ideas and apply them to their professional and educational lives. 7. Are you a manager or a disciplinarian? For the first 3 to 4 months I am more of a disciplinarian because I have to set the businesslike tone in my room. In addition to teaching and modeling the rules and procedures of the classroom. From the remainder of the year my classroom becomes more student centered whereas, I allow them to facilitate and take responsible of our space, then more myself. 8. A statement that communicates what you believe good teachers do to facilitate education? In order for our students to success to the best of their ability parent involvement is imperative in students educational success. 9. A statement that communicates what you need students to do so that you can teach? Students have to be open to learn to things, to be able to apply their knowledge and have enough self control that they allow themselves to learn and their neighbors. 10. A statement that communicates your goals of your classroom management. We must learn to understand rules and practice procedures so we can have a productive class home. 11. What type of class do you envision? The classroom that I envision is receptive to the information taught and confident enough to have a open discussion to share their thoughts and opinions. |
